1998 - The Integrated Bar of the Philippines joins the cry for the impeachment of Ombudsman Aniano Desierto due to his continuous dismissal of the criminal suits filed by the government against Marcos cronies.

1998 - China's ambassador to Manila Guang Deng-ming tells Sen. Blas Ople, chair of the foreign relations committee of the Philippine Senate, that the Philippines should disregard divisive forces and focus instead on the improvement of regional unity.

1991 – Pres. Corazon Aquino approves a selection ban in deployment of entertainers to Japan and other countries.

1987 - U.S. Admiral Ronald Hays, Chief of the U.S. Pacific Command, declares that the Philippine constitutional provision banning entry to nuclear arms would be a thorny issue in the negotiations for a new R.P.-U.S. military bases agreement.

1986 - The Swiss government declares former Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos and 12 members of his official family and entourage to be personae non grata. Hence, they are prohibited to travel to Switzerland.

1985 - Ramon C. Aquino is appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

1974 - Eugenio Lopez, Jr. and Sergio Osmeña III, political detainees during the Marcos dictatorship, launch a hunger strike to protest their illegal detention.

1896 — Dr. Jose Rizal appears before Col. Francisco Olive to face the charges filed by his enemies. Colonel Olive is the same Spanish officer who headed a company of colonial troops five years earlier to expel the tenants of Calamba, among them is Rizal’s family.

1645 — By virtue of King Philip IV’s order, "Colegio de Sto. Tomas" is converted into a university, now known as the University of the Sto. Tomas.
